Actually Missed Date Day Yesterday

We didn’t go on Date Day cause SWMBO is down in San Diego visiting her brother before heading off to Oregon, Ohio to visit her folks. She’s been itching to go visit her brother ever since I visited him last July (after my step-mom’s funeral) and reported back to her that “That boy is fucked up.” Man, her “fix-it mode” kicked in and she’s been chomping at the bit to get down there and get started on him. Poor guy.

So we couldn’t have Date-Day yesterday. I was going to go out anyway; and wound up going to Safeway for $32 worth of stuff and having a single pizza bread thingie while watching Amazing Spaces. And except for missing SWMBO it was okay.

Not a lot going on around here. Me and the Dog still go for our walks even though the weather has turned rather cool. Hasn’t really been raining a lot so that’s good. Except the trees really need the rain.

Today was a fairly normal day for us. Even with SWMBO gone for a couple of weeks. So used to eating around 1530 that I had dinner ready and was eating by 1600. Will be looking for a snack later …

And that’s it. For some reason (The onset of Winter?) I just don’t feel like posting as much as I have in the past. Part of it is I’m so boring. Part is that I have other things on my mind lately. And a really Big part is that I’m boring. Even to myself.

Sixty-Six And I Just Won My First Cage Fight!

Fucking Canary never knew what hit it!

I don’t really have anything. Found out the other day that I had some Rx’s at the Naval Hospital Pharmacy that I needed to pick up. Timely since I had just run out of the main medication I use. (The one that slows my heart down and allows it to beat. I like that one!) So, made a trip to the pharmacy and got in and out in under an hour and a half. Not bad! Must have been a slow day for them. Plus I got there at 0800.

Not a lot going on around here. SSDD mostly. Wx is up and down. Mater’s still coming in (can’t ear them fast enough). Dog’s still doggin’. SWMBO ate that one gigantic freakin’ beet I grew for her. Didn’t hear her retching so I guess she liked it.

Friend came over and we messed with setting up a packet station in my shack. I’m going to have to get my own Winlink log in and go from there. May dedicate that tri-bander I have to the cause since I really don’t use it much. Matter of fact: I listen to my radio’s WAY more than I talk. Maybe I should just switch to Shortwave.

He also took a bunch of those styrofoam blocks used for making those cement houses that I’ve had laying around these past 11 years or so. (WHY can’t I remember what they’re called!?!?) ICF! That’s it. Insulated Concrete Forms. I hate Senior Moments.

So, I’ve been “doing things” around the house that I’ve been meaning to do. Working on the pantry today. Found 2 cases of home made chili that I did back in 2014. Put them on top of the chili I canned in 2016 so I’d eat them first. Had a jar for dinner and it was okay. Wouldn’t drive across town for it though. (My chili never seems to turn out the same when I make a new batch. One year it’ll be great. Next year it’ll be blah. Go figure!)

And that’s about it. Not feeling very well this evening. Trying to get a headache. Usually means the Wx is changing again. Sux!

OMG! Another SSDD Weekend!

Yeup. Pretty much our usual weekend around here. Got to pick SWMBO up last friday at the QFC.

Saturday date went really well. She took me to the All-You-Can-Eat Chinese place in pPort Ordhard before we spent too much money at COSTCO in Gig Harbor. But we really did (mostly) get just stuff we needed so I don’t feel bad about it.

Today was more of the same around here. Liberated most of the tomato’s (both sizes) and have them in paper sacks to ripen. Sun came out and it rained only once. Was almost nice out there. Almost t-shirt weather.

Mention that cause last Friday and Saturday it rained, fairly hard and steady, all day (both days). Seemed it was making up for the summer. But today there was only one 30-second downpour and zilch for the rest of the day. Cool!

NOT a whole lot gong on. Waiting for the MCARC 2-meter Sunday Chat Net. Something is going wrong with my 857d. If I hold down that lower left orange button to bring up what I call the “deep menu,” where you can change Tx Power, etc, the radio locks up and has to be disconnected from power to be able to do anything. And I mean anything. No idea what the hell is going on.

My reception sucked tonight! Lot’s of fading out and noise. Time to move my antenna’s to Winter Positions! Or get my damned tower up!

Sorry. SSDD Tuesday. All Day!

Been doing “stuff” around the house all day. Finishing up the laundry. Took the Dog for a tour of the back 40. Checked mail. (It was there!) Listening to/watching Cosmos (the new one) while cataloging our books. Four shelves done. 26 or so to go!

Set up the BBQ and BBQ’d some Pork Chops for dinner. Made potato chunks and veggies to go with them. They was yummy! I even saved some for SWMBO.

Thought I heard W7FBI on the 10-meter Net; but couldn’t really make out what he was saying. Didn’t hear anyone else. Looks like our Tuesday 10-meter Net is pretty much defunct. Well, we only have it (when we have it) for the Newbies to practice their HF. Haven’t had too many Newbies recently.

And that’s pretty much it. Boring, I know. I’d go off on a Redneck Rant and liven things up, but then I wouldn’t be able to sleep. Once I get riled, I stay riled for awhile.

No Real Post Today. Lazy Turd!

SSDD Sunday. I made Pot Roast with Taters and Carrots for dinner. Chores done. Laundry done. MCARC 2-meter Sunday Chat Net done. “Watching” various movies on one monitor while “playing” with VUE 2014 on the other. Being lazy.

I’m Old. I can be lazy if I want.

Secrets Of The Universe!

Last Friday was so boring, except for getting to sit out in the warm sun for awhile, that I just couldn’t bear subjecting y’all to a recount of the day. While I never set out to prove I have some humanity for my fellow beings, occasionally it just slips out by my  non-action.

Yesterday I woke with a headache that hung on until around 1500. I hate waking with a headache! SWMBO got home from the Genealogy Library about 1500 and took me to an early dinner at Taco Bell in Port Orchard. Afterwards we bought a fart sack at Walmart for the bed in the Caravan. Then stopped at Jo Ann’s fabrics and looked at .. fabric .. that SWMBO is thinking of using to make covers for all the cushions in the Caravan. Then a short stop at St. Vinnie’s for kitchen utensils for the Caravan and the usual Safeway run on the way home.

Also got to sit out in the sun before she got home yesterday. Almost Get Naked Wx! Almost. Supposed to be just as nice today (but around here one can only hope).

Actually, just took the Dog for a walk around the back 40 and it is pretty nice out there. Sunny. Almost warm again. Don’t have to wear my coat. Sweatshirt is fine.  Wow, got to the less than shirt stage today. My goodness.

Was lounging out in the sun when I heard a butt-ton (shitload, plethora) of siren’s heading towards town. About 8 sirens all told. Came in and got my radio and turned it on to hear “Vehicle went through 2 walls at the Post Office. Extensive damage.” and that was it. Nothing else about it at all. Hmmm…

Made a roast Turkey thingie, mashed taters, & green beans for dinner. I thought it was okay and SWMBO ate all her portion so that’s okay. Now to finish up my usual Sunday chores and wait for the MCARC 2-meter Sunday Chat Net to begin.

Which went well. Several of the Members went to the Mike & Key Swap Meet yesterday and got some pretty good deals.

I’ve Had Some Boring Damned Monday’s

But none as bad as today! I was so  bored that, at noon, I went to Walmart and Jo Ann’s Fabric’s in Port Orchard to get SWMBO’s Christmas present. Holy Shit, there was a lot of traffic out there! Both places were packed too.

Walmart had the monitor mount I was looking for but not at the price I was willing to pay.  And definitely not at the price I saw advertised online. Ah well. Maybe next month

Other than that the only things I’ve done today were my usual chores and burned the trash. I love burning trash. Anything I can to do promote global warming.

So, that’s about it. SWMBO is home safe and off quilting in her room. I’m finishing up the River Song story and it’s about time for this old guy to hit the rack.

Pretty Much An SSDD Sunday

Just not a lot going on. And, I admit, I kinda, sorta, got caught up in a Doctor Who (Season 04) marathon for most of the day. Just felt like it.

Did get my regular chores & (most of the) laundry done. Sun came out and me and the Dog went for a tour of the back 40. Moved my other two antenna’s from one side of the house to the other and go those hooked up to the radio and the tuner.

Made dinner (Chicken Enchilada’s and steamed cauliflower) for the Missionary’s. They seemed to enjoy it. More importantly, SWMBO seemed to enjoy it. Wasn’t much to send home with them but they got to take it anyway.

Now I’m just kinda, sorta, waiting around until time for the MCARC 2-meter Sunday Evening Chat Net. (The highly informal version.) Dishes are getting washed and the last load of laundry is in the dryer.

Well, the Net went well. Only 5 check-ins but it’s the last weekend shopping day before Christmas so I was kind of half way expecting a light turnout. But it went good.

I’m Staying In This Weekend!

Lot’s of rain and wind moving in for the weekend. So I’m staying in.

Except for our usual Saturday date. I’ll brave the elements for that. Wx would have to be pretty terrible for me to miss spending time with my schweetie.

Our 28th Anniversary is Saturday also and I still haven’t gotten her anything. She may be stuck unwrapping me for her anniversary present. (Woo Woo!) Or I may just take her someplace “fancy” for dinner.

Not much going on around here. Trip to the Naval Hospital to pick SWMBO’s meds up. That took only a couple of hours! Then a trip to the Post Office to pick up our Thrive order. Built a thing to hold my computer under the new countertop but I’m letting it sit empty for now to give it a test; will I learn not to knock it around with my right knee? When I get that worked out I’ll probably build a “prettier” one.

And that is it for this Thursday.

Again–Holy Crap! It’s Wet Out There!

Man, even for a place where it rains a lot, we’ve had a lot of rain the past few days. It’s really coming down out there right now! Supposed to get wetter and windier later today too. I’ve got everything charging that can charge so if the power goes out I can do things. Heck, I can turn my phone into a wifi hotspot if I need to. Wouldn’t last more than a couple of hours but I could.

Sprayed that texturing on the new walls in my room. It doesn’t look right though and II ‘m thinking I’m going to have to re-do it with a different sprayer. Or by roller. Think I’ll get SWMBO’s opinion on it before doing anything else. (Holy, Shit! That’s probably a smart thing to do!) But I didn’t wait. Just didn’t look right to me so I mixed up another batch and applied it with a roller. Looks like it’s supposed to now.

So, let me get this straight. News is covering people who built houses on “Wash Away Beach,” who are surprised that their homes are being washed into the ocean. Hmmm. “Wash Away Beach” would have been a big clue for me.

Bowl of chili with hot dog for dinner. Slice of apple pie with whipped cream and a scoop of Rocky Road Ice Cream for desert. Ready for a nap now.

Wind is really starting to kick up and the lights just flickered enough to set off the battery backup. And it’s supposed to get worse until around 0400 tomorrow.

Holy Crap It’s Wet Out There!

So, I’m doing some laundry and I’m looking at the dryer and thinking: Wouldn’t it be great if I could climb in the dryer for 10 minutes and climb out wrinkle-free and 3 sizes smaller! Hell, I’d spend half an hour a day in the damned thing.

Started that “Bill Pay” thing at my bank when I acquired this new Truck payment. Money was deducted from my account Dec 2nd and was supposed to be to the new Bank by Dec 8th. Stopped by the new Bank today and they still haven’t seen any money. First payment on the new truck is due tomorrow. Right now I am not a happy camper with my present Bank. I had to log-on and instigate an “inquiry” to find out what the hell is going on. What happened to being able to be helped while you’re actually at the bank?

Stopped and bought 3 furring strips at ACE on my way home. Need them for the masking off I’m doing. Was lots more in that store I wouldn’t mind buying! Probably the best Christmas present I could ever get (aside from SWMBO) is an unlimited spending spree at Home Depot.

And had to make another run to ACE to buy one of those mixer thingies you can put on your drill to mix the stuff for the walls. This time it was raining harder and “rush hour” was in full bloom. Damn!

Nother Really Wet Day Out. Stayed In.

Yesterday. What the hell did I do yesterday? Oh, yeah. Went to Home Depot and spent too much money on 2X4’s, a LED Light, and paint. Would have bought the counter tops but I’m just not quite ready for them. Anywho, by the time I quit working in my room yesterday, and all the other stuff I do, I was too  tired when it came time to go to bed to post.

Today I had to make a run to Walmart, where I spent too much money, to get SWMBO a Queen sized, White, Flat sheet. They’s spendy. And I bought a thing to hold my phone in the truck. Just been doing my regular stuff and taping off stuff in my room getting it ready to paint. Probably tomorrow or Thursday.

Of course, that kinda sorta depends on if we still have power or not; what with the storm that’s supposed to be moving in. Supposed to be lots of wind. And rain, of course. Wouldn’t be a WaRshington storm without rain.

Went out and loosened my new antenna in case it does get real windy. Back yard is already pretty much flooded. Real squishy walking out there.

MCARC 10-meter Tuesday Evening Chat Net went well. Heard everyone but KC7WNJ; whom I never hear.

Ah, Yes. Sunday.

Which means, other than if being a totally SSDD type of day, that I have to count out my medication to that little “weekly” box so I don’t forget to take the damned things. You know you’re getting old when you have to sort your meds by day and put them in a little box with the day written on them, so you don’t forget to take something that may KEEP YOU ALIVE if you take them on time. And my memory is shot.

Not to mention that I’m old enough, and in such a condition, that I have so many meds to take anyway. Cholesterol med, weak aspirin, BP Meds (which may or may not be working), and that med that makes my heart beat regular. That’s quite enough for me, thank you. At least I’m not taking 8-15 pills daily like some of my friends and family. Guess I have that to look forward to.

Not much going on. Regular SSDD Sunday. We had our left-overs from El Sombrero for dinner tonight so neither of us had to actually cook. I’m still getting my usual Sunday chores done but shouldn’t be at that too much longer. MCARC 2-meter Chat Net coming up in a couple of hours.

Dang. We’re under another Flood Watch from Monday evening through Tuesday. Looks like it’s going to rain all week. Bummer.

Net went well. Not as many check-ins as last week but still respectable. And that’s pretty much it for tonight. I lead a boring life. Really.

Kind Of Feeling My Age

Read a piece online about a Mother that was arrested for letting her 10 year old kid go to the park, a block away, by herself. ??? When I was 10, we lived in South El Monte, Calif. During the summer Mom would get us up early, feed us breakfast (if we were lucky), and kick our asses out until dark. A lot of times we’d head off to what we knew as “Garvey Park” over in Monterey. About 5 miles or so. It was nothing back then to let your kids wander miles away and not really worry about them. Except for maybe what trouble they’d cause! Hell, I used to hop on a bus and go to actual downtown Los Angeles, out to Seal Beach, the Pacific Palisades Park (?? Not sure of the name. Amusement park on a pier), the La Brea Tar Pits, or Griffiths Park.

Different times, I guess.

Not much going on. Pretty normal Saturday until SWMBO showed up at 1500 for our date. She took me to El Sombrero (YUMMY!) for early dinner and Home Depot to tell me how much I can spend to finish off my room and get back in it. Oh, short stop by Jo Ann’s. It doesn’t matter to me where we go, or where we stop, as long as we’re spending time together.

And that’s it for this Saturday.

Wet Day But Got Some Things Done

Just to let all y’all know: When the Zombie Apocalypse comes to the Seattle-Tacoma area, some of us are probably going to blow up the Tacoma Narrows Bridge to keep them on that side of the water. We figure that them having to go through Olympia will slow them down by months; stopping to eat the dipshits in our State Capital, you know.

It quit raining for awhile, so I made a run to take some stuff to the “Faith In Action” store in town. Filled the truck with gas on the way back. Well, not the whole truck; just the tank.

Other than that just not much more than the “usual” going on. Kind of stalled on my room until I get paint. I don’t want to block a bunch of stuff off until I can paint then get it all cleaned up. Still need to buy some 2X4’s to make a frame to hold my new counter tops. That I still need to buy also.

But this is old news.

Dang. Got busy installing Linux Mint 17.1 both Cinnamon & Mate versions to a couple of virtual machines and completely forgot about what time it was. I like playing with VMware Player. Let’s me do all kinds of things.

Anywho, SWMBO is home and has eaten and is in her room watching “something.” It’s about bed time for this old guy.

So, I’m Thinking Of A New Life Rule

When I make a “pit stop,” I tend to take my Nexus 7 along with me and spend way too much time “sitting” there catching up on Tumblr. Yep, mostly Tumblr. Way long after I’m finished my “business;” if you know what I mean. I have permanent elbow marks on the tops of my knees.

Then, when I go to bed I’ll spend about half an hour on G+ catching up. Then another half hour on Facebook, catching up. Then finish out with Tumblr again. Just catching up you know. By that time I’m ready to go to sleep. Usually.

I never just read anymore. Which I miss. So I think I’m going to make a rule that I catch up on G+ & FB during my morning absolutions. Then, at bedtime, I can catch up on Tumblr for half an hour  before delving into the latest book I’m reading. Actually doing this is going to be the problem though. I’m a renowned procrastinator.

Not much going on today. Raining out most of the day so we’re pretty much stuck inside unless we want to pile on the clothes and rain gear. Which I don’t. So I’ve been “doing things” around the house and in my room to get ready to spray paint. Need to make a trip to Home Depot for some paint sometime soon. And my counter tops. And some 2X4’s.

Oh, something y’all should remember:

Everything You Need To Know About My Wednesday.

But the MCARC Wednesday 2-meter Chat Net went well (other than my reception being for shit tonight. They had no problem hearing me though). Other than that, my day was pretty much boring. Made a run to the post office and brought MacDonald’s home for dinner cause I didn’t even feel like cooking anything tonight.

Wow! What A Normal Tuesday!

Made a run to the bank. Stopped by ACE Hardware on the way back and got some plastic sheeting and painter’s tape to start working on my room. No mail today. Took Dog for a walk around the back 40. Ate another cold turkey sandwich. Covered the windows in my room with plastic.

My day. Ah, my day. Beats the alternative though. And these boring days won’t last much longer if I’d just get off my ass. Getting the plastic on the windows is a start. I really do have a lot of things I can/could do around the house on those rainy or cold days that I don’t want to get outside. I just need to get off my old ass and get it all started.

But, oh my, I like Summer so much better. If I am not going to do anything, I’d so much rather not do it outside on a nice, hot, day.

Made myself a crispy tilapia & bagel sandwich, and some corn, for dinner tonight cause I’m (temporarily!) sick of Turkey. It was good. Watching a Nova show about Landslides where they covered the Oso landslide last year.

MCARC 10-meter Wednesday Chat Net went really well.

Yeah, Pretty Much SSDD. Again.

Damn! How many times have I used that “headline?” How many more times will I use it in the years to come? Could this be one of the reason’s people just click through my blog instead of delving into my in-depth presentation of my normal, every day, boring, life? Who cares! I’m not posting “for them” anyway!

My lovely, young, bride asked me the other day why I post here. My life is more extra ordinary instead of extraordinary.  I mean, the highlight of my day was making a run into town to the Vape Shop for some new atty’s. The Renter’s paying their rent for December. The Cold Turkey sandwich I had for a late lunch. (And will probably have for dinner. Someone needs to eat up all that left over turkey!)

But other than that I just plain could not say why I post here.  Maybe to share how most American’s really live (day to day)? To practice my writing skills? Doubtful. To make y’all as bored as I can be sometimes? Possibly. Doubtful though.

So, I’m just not going to worry on it. IF I was one of those that needs “followers,” someone hanging on every word I utter, people to tell me how “wonderful” I am, then this blog would be a constant bummer. Few “followers.” Very few comments. Few people that really care about my (boring) life beyond SWMBO and my dead parents. And it just doesn’t matter to me. Really.

I do this because I enjoy doing it. That’s all the reason I need.

Not much else going on. Went out and fixed my new antenna. COLD out there! Everything in the shade is still frosty. All free-standing water is free-standing ice. Sucks! I just plain out miss summer.

And that’s it again. I got to pick SWMBO up at the Ferry Landing tonight; two trips to Bremerton in one day is enough. Almost time to take this old guy to bed.
