It's been so wet around here lately that the freakin' asphalt squishes when you walk on it. The back 40 is still soaked and it's easy to get wet to the knees lumbering all this fat around and making splashes as I stomp along the path. Actually saw two drowned moles.

Power went out last night for an hour or two just after I went to bed. Had just dozed off when my cpap quit working. Wasn't stormy. Wasn't windy. Power just disappeared. But when SWMBO checked her phone for the time I knew it wasn't an EMP so managed to sleep a bit. Otherwise I'd have been up all night trying to figure out how to blow up the Tacoma Narrows Bridges.

Date Day! SWMBO is taking me to the FPH after the Dog and I go for our walk. Cool!

AND that all was a couple of days ago. Got busy and forgot to finish and post. Old Guy.

Well, each is true.

Installed and playing with KVM-QEMU-Virt-Manager and having a blast. Not sure which virtualization program I "like" the best so far (out of VMWare, VirtualBox, and Virt-Manager) but Virt-Manager seems to be the easiest. Not really. VMWare is just as easy. QEMU is built into Linux natively though.

The DOS 6.2/Windows 3.1 VMWare VM's I made years ago all converted to Virt-Manager format and run just fine. Even the OS/2 Warp 3&4 VM's. But the Windows XP and Windows 7 VM's don't. So I had to make new one's in Virt-Manager. All Fun!

What in the H E double L do I use the virtual machines for? Playing. Refreshing old skills. Playing. Learning new skills "just in case." And playing.

And that's really about it. I lead a very mundane life.

Today was a “I Wouldn’t Trust That Fart!” Day

But we really don’t want to go there!

Had a wind Tuesday night into Wednesday. Lost power about 0030 until 0715. I knew this when I woke up having trouble getting a breath and noticed my CPAP was off. And the house was completely dark. (Surprising how dark it was even though it’s darker out here “in the country” than nearer town.)

Not that I set an alarm clock or anything, but I slept in until 0710 (what the Hell is wrong with me!?), got up and was in the kitchen staring at the coffee pot and said “I’d really like some coffee.” and, BOOM, power came back on. I hit that ON button with speed and precision! Ah, that hit the spot.

Half Our Backyard River

Our backyard river is back and higher/wetter than usual. The back-40 is damned near drowned. We lost two trees (that were pretty dead anyway, but still). All my spare antenna parts blew off where I had them stored above the planters. Otherwise, not really any damage.

Bought me a small wok and am learning to use it. YouTube has a LOT of fried rice videos! I’ve been wanting some decent fried rice since the guy at Safeway (who made some good fried rice!) quit. And I like to cook. (Wanted to be a chef way back when.) There’s got to be more I can do with a wok than bacon and eggs mixed into obrien’s for breakfast!

I see that AOC wants to ‘rein in’ the “free” press. Hey, y’all, welcome to our world! I’d just love to see our “News” organizations subjected to the same censorship as we Conservatives. Think they’d wise up? Naw. Reporters are the lowest scum on earth and can’t learn.

 

Cool Dark Wednesday. Get Used To It!

My lovely-young-bride (SWMBO) of danged near 35 years, doesn't let me climb on

the roof anymore cause, somewhere, somewhen, I got OLD. WAY klutzier than I was even 20 years ago. (And I'm not sure if I'm not insured or she just hasn't got the payments quite caught up on insurance. But don't tell her my suspicions.)

So, imagine her surprise yesterday when she returned from dropping her friends off at home, to find me 55 feet up in the air working on my tower and antenna's.

She did not look happy when she got out of the car. But, my neighbor with the man-lift brought it down and we finally got the top section of my tower, with antenna attached, up and bolted securely in place. And, other than one cable being 10 feet too short (damn!) it went well. Even repositioned the security cam I have up there.

Beside, what's to worry about a 68 year old (me) and a 75 year old (my neighbor) being 55 feet up in the air? What could possibly go wrong?

Noticed that the slimy fuckers in Philly are rioting because a Black man with a knife charging the police, got killed. I guess the fact that he HAD A FREAKIN' KNIFE and was CHARGING THE COPS doesn't mean anything. No Cop should be made to stand and maybe get killed.

USPS Worker Charged With Dumping Ballots: Yet we're supposed to trust voting by mail for America. Which I don't as long as there's a Democrat alive. I'd almost rather vote by UPS/FedEx than trust the US Post Office. Better yet, let the FBI handle mail in voting since they can't seem to handle anything else. Or, maybe not.

So get off your asses and take yourself down to vote in person. And don't let any Democrats handle the collected votes. It's already going to be (crazy would be an understatement) after the votes cause you know the Democrats are going to contest every vote in every State and drag it out. They'll steal it if we let them.

Maybe we ought to get out and demonstrate FOR President Trump immediately after the election to show Democrats that we were serious?

Anywho, SWMBO is off to the Genealogy Library so I think I'm going to my shop in the basement and work on that piece of wood my neighbor gave me. It's going to make a nice live-edge table/shelf.

Well, I’m Twelve Shades Of Bummed

Our Renter texted me that she’s moving in with her boyfriend over Tacoma way. That Sucks! She’s been living here 3-4 years. I’ve gotten used to there being 3-8 tore-down cars in the lower driveway. And she’s pretty easy on the eyes too. But, she and the new “love of her life” (this is the 3rd I’ve known about) deserve a chance. I hope they’ll make it. She still has to give me written notice with the date she’ll be out on and we’ll go from there. I’m really going to miss her. And will forever cuss the name Mitchell.

Not a whole hell of  a lot going on around here otherwise. Raining. Raining some more. Then, when the Dog and I head out on our walk, it rains again. Starting to get pretty sick of it. Yes, even snow would be better. At least we didn’t have that wind storm Seattle area had last weekend.

This Windows 10 computer is working pretty well. Especially for the radio “stuff.” Hooked what I thought was the data/programming cable to my 857d but couldn’t get CHIRP to connect; so I put the regular “data” cable back on it. CHIRP connected and downloaded the memories just fine! So I added to them and wrote them back to the radio and everything works great. So I did my Baofeng. Nice. Now to get a programming cable for that B-Tech tri-band radio so I can do the same. Hopefully.

This 45” monitor is just too damned big for anything other than X-Plane or one of the other flight simulators/games. One has to tilt ones head back to look at the top of the screen. Uncomfortable.

Love my new photo frame thingie that I got. Really clear picture and it plays HD video’s too. I put a lot of our trip pictures (and all my pictures of SWMBO) on a memory card and have that in. It turns itself on at 0600 and off at 2300! Neat! Need to get some 4gb cards though. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it just plays EVERY photo or video on the card. You can’t pick just one directory and play it. So I can’t play just “landscapes” or “SWMBO”; it plays them all. But it plays them really nice!

I’ve Lost My Focus. Mostly Here

I used to post a LOT more than I have been lately. Not sure what exactly the problem is. Probably cause it’s Winter, Dark, Rainy, Dismal, Dreary, and get’s dark WAY too early. Lucky y’all!

And, honestly, not a lot going on around here other than SSDD. Did try pushing a Honda (Civic?) off my drain field (where it was delivered after dark by someone that dropped it off (for my Renter) and booked as fast as possible) and thought I was going to die! Chest pains. Dizziness. Shortness of breath. HAD to sit down or fall down. Man! Sucked cause I don’t think that car can weigh in at 1200 lbs. Think I’m getting Old.

Got my new Windows 10 machine in and set up. Ordered a new half-height video card and that came in and was installed with a minimum of fuss. Works great! I have maxed out all the settings in X-Plane, MSFSX, and Lock-On and everything looks great! We’ll see how it holds up to installing and running plug-ins and stuff. So far I am not disappointed. I do need to get a bigger power supply though. Soon.

So, my room is starting to come together rather nicely. Five monitors hooked to 2 desktops with the option of hooking up 2 laptops and have 2 Raspberry Pi3’s doing various things. Also have a Pi3 left over that I’m thinking of turning into a weather station. We’ll see.

But, now that I have a Windows 10 machine (would prefer Windows 7) I’ve moved Open Live Writer to it and now no longer HAVE to run that Windows 7 virtual machine. Which I will keep “just in case.”

Ordering a Yaesu ft-991a in the next few days. Thinking of mounting my 857d in the truck or the Caravan. Probably the truck though cause I can still use the 140/440 in the meantime. Then if we get somewhere and I feel like doing some HF I’ll take the Alpha Antenna out of the tool box, hook it up, and see who I can contact. Probably need to get a smaller tuner though. Hmmm…

SWMBO made London Broil for dinner tonight so I made her Snickerdoodle cookies for a snack.

Yesterday she took me to El Sombrero for dinner. Had way (way!) too many refried beans and am paying for it tonight. Honestly, something died…

Nice Day Trip With SWMBO

We got up and was out of the house by 0900 yesterday for a trip to Leavenworth, WA. Should have taken about 3 hours but I got turned around so it took 3.5 hours. AND, we got within  miles and got slowed down by a 4 mile backup!

When we finally got ito Leavenworth there was NO parking. I’d hazard a guess that there were 100 cars looking for every possible empty parking spot. Of which there were none. After about half an hour of driving around looking I just gave up and we started back.

Stopped at a Fruit Stand & Quilt Store just south of Leavenworth. SWMBO got some stuff at the quilt store and I got a 5-leter box of some of the best Apple Cider I’ve ever tasted. Well worth the $20! Also got some huckleberry honey that tastes really good.

Then, after a long and convoluted drive to Ellensburg, we stopped for dinner. Stopped at another Quilt Store in “downtown” Ellensburg for awhile then headed home.

Made our usual Saturday stop at  Walmart (where we spent WAY too much) and made it home about 2100.

I had a great time being out with my Schweetie and getting to see “new” scenery and just being together. She’s the best.

Otherwise, it’s just a lot of freakin’ fain around here!

Extreme Wx - Port Orchard Version

Was sitting on the pot when a peal of thunder shook the house so much I actually thought we’d been hit by a truck. There was a Qwest truck in the neighborhood fixing our phone lines (someone took them out in an accident) and I thought maybe they’d lost control and rammed the house.

Then I started hearing reports of “Tornado” and “Gas Leak” and “Going door to door to evacuate” on the police bands. What?

Yep, we had a Tornado in Port Orchard. Did some damage too. Of course it was all over the local (Seattle) News and they absolutely talked it to death. Luckily no one was injured. So, Cool.

Our Internet went down a few days ago. Day before yesterday I spent about 2 hours on the phone with Qwest tech support (thanks, Gerald!) to have him finally assign a tech to come out and check the lines. Yesterday, went to check mail and saw 4 Qwest trucks and a digger working on the telephone lines for our entire subdivision. Seems someone ran off the dirt road into a steel gate and took out the main junction box for all our phone lines. Thanks Anon Driver. They got it fixed yesterday though. Good!

Not a whole lot else going on around here. Me and the Dog manage to make our walks but it is really (really!) wet out there. Ground squishes when you step on it. I’ve never seen so much running and standing water on our property. And we lost another alder. More storms moving in over the next week. Stand by…

Chili-fries for dinner. Cause I can.

I Checked. Still Hate Winter.

Cant believe this much time has gone by. Sunday a week ago we had our Thanksgiving since SWMBO was gone on the actual Thanksgiving. Her son and his girl came over and everything went rather well. Until about 2230. Started feeling “ill.”  Then started having to run to the crapper for some explosive peeing out my butt. Started feeling nauseaus. And that’s how I spent my Sunday night into Tuesday mroning.

Had an appointment with the butt-Doc (Silver Stallion PreLims) that I had to cancel. Girl on the phone started asking me about rescheduling. Told her “I’m not thinking real straight right now. Laying on the floor by the toilet cause I can’t get more than 3 or 4 feet from the damned thing before I have to rush back. How about we reschedule later?” To which she totally agreed. Guffaw. Guffaw. Guffaw.

So, that lasted until Tuesday morning. Felt weak for a couple of days after. Funny that no one else got even slightly ill.

The rest of the week was pretty SSDD. Rained a lot but me and the Dog still did our walks and stuff. On Date Day last Saturday SWMBO took me to a new Mexican restaurant in the Silverdale Mall. Was okay. I really shouldn’t order taco’s in these places though since it turns out I like Taco Bell Taco’s best. Even if they aren’t REAL Mexican taco’s.

Sunday SWMBO made dinner and we watched “Incredibles II” on the big tv and even used the sound bar. The Missionaries interrupted the move by stopping by but it was nice visiting with them for awhile. And we still finished the move after they left.

And that’s it Not a while lot more going on. Did order two 2-TB USB drives and another Raspberry Pi 3 on Amazon this morning for Christmas presents. Making one each for my Father-In-Law and SWMBO’s son to be media centers. The drive will be attached and have movies/tv stuff on them to get them started. They’re both smart enough to figure out KODI, I think.

Made myself some corn and mashed taters to go along with the piece of fried chicken left over from last nights dinner. Was good. Dog enjoyed licking the plate too! Soaked some black-eyed peas overnight and started those cooking for dinner tomorrow.

Watched Pacific Rim 2: was okay. Looks like Animae to me.

I Owe Scott Bakula An Apology

I never watched “Enterprise” just because I did not like Scott Bakula. Not a bit. Never saw him in anything, or as any character, that I liked. That “time travel” show he was in? Watched part of one episode and never another. So when “Enterprise” came on, starring Scott Bakula, I never watched a full episode. Nor many parts of any episodes.

Which is why I owe Scott Bakula, and the rest of the cast, an apology. Got the entire series on Blu-ray and have been ripping and converting it to .mkv files for our TV drive on the NAS. And, started watching. And find it a fairly decent show. Even Scott's part as Captain Jonathan Archer.

About half way through the 2nd season.

Otherwise, not a whole hell of a lot going on around here. Know I haven't posted; just nothing going on. Been raining a bit (rather hard at times), getting colder, really gets dark early (which totally sucks).

Date Day with SWMBO is still the high light of my week. Yesterday she took me to the all-you-can-eat  Chinese place in Port Orchard. Then our usual stop at Walmart afterwards. She had her 59th birthday this past Tuesday but I can't tell. She still looks young and beautiful to me.

Oh, had my Stress Test last Tuesday. Went Too Well, actually. They got me all wired up and on the treadmill ready to go. Started the thing up. About 3 minutes in the thing tilted and sped up and just as I was hitting my stride they stopped it cause they had everything they needed. What? Heart had just sped up (the EKG was looking good too (I was watching)), my breathing was faster but good, not much was hurting knee or foot wise, and I was ready to do another several minutes or so. What do you mean “you can stop anytime now.”? Not one chest pain in all that.

Go figure.

So when I go see my Doc (the Idiot) I haven't any actual proof that I get chest pains. Ah well. Guess I'll die a healthy man.

Anywho, want to get this posted so y'all will know I'm still alive and kicking. I'll get out of this posting funk as the weather improves. I really do need to get off my ass around here.

Actually Missed Date Day Yesterday

We didn’t go on Date Day cause SWMBO is down in San Diego visiting her brother before heading off to Oregon, Ohio to visit her folks. She’s been itching to go visit her brother ever since I visited him last July (after my step-mom’s funeral) and reported back to her that “That boy is fucked up.” Man, her “fix-it mode” kicked in and she’s been chomping at the bit to get down there and get started on him. Poor guy.

So we couldn’t have Date-Day yesterday. I was going to go out anyway; and wound up going to Safeway for $32 worth of stuff and having a single pizza bread thingie while watching Amazing Spaces. And except for missing SWMBO it was okay.

Not a lot going on around here. Me and the Dog still go for our walks even though the weather has turned rather cool. Hasn’t really been raining a lot so that’s good. Except the trees really need the rain.

Today was a fairly normal day for us. Even with SWMBO gone for a couple of weeks. So used to eating around 1530 that I had dinner ready and was eating by 1600. Will be looking for a snack later …

And that’s it. For some reason (The onset of Winter?) I just don’t feel like posting as much as I have in the past. Part of it is I’m so boring. Part is that I have other things on my mind lately. And a really Big part is that I’m boring. Even to myself.

Is It That Time Of The Year Again?

Well, what the Hell have I been up to? Replaced the handle on the tailgate. Cost $35 and a bit of time. WAY better than the $210 the Dealer wanted just for the part.

Moved the Manor Stone from around our two fruit trees, dug out the area, put in weed blocker stuff, stones back in place and filled with bark. Now I need to trim the weed blocker stuff and that’ll be done.

Mostly supervised the guy putting in the new front ramp. Did go get the 25 bags of concrete. Couple of young guys loaded them into the truck  but I unloaded them! John did pretty good on this and I wish I could have been more help.

Other than that: Not much. Daily routine stuff and trying to set up a print server that works for everyone and not just me. SWMBO hasn’t been able to connect and I haven’t been able to make her connect to the printer so I’m reinstalling the server. Turns out I don’t need a scanner server since this little scanner we have will scan to a thumb drive. Cool!

Wx really suxs now. Some rain. Mostly cloudy and dark. Hate this getting dark early crap! And it’s just going to get worse next week when daylight savings ends.

Anywho, just wanted to let y’all know I’m still alive and kicking. Getting weaker by the week, but hanging in there. Stress Test Nov 27th. Which will show them what I’ve been telling the Doc all along. I don’t run!

I Am So Boring!

Haven’t posted cause my life is boring as fuck. I spend my days hobbling around like an old guy with knee and foot pains (Hey!) and not a whole lot to do cause I’m “retired.”

Oh, I make my bank runs and things like that; but mostly I hang around the house “doing things.” Nothing that really matters; but something. Yes, I usually start my day by making the bed. At least I accomplish one thing every day.

Wx has been fairly nice though. Cooler (to cold) in the morning but really nice in the afternoon. Have got to lay out a couple of times. Except for the crap going on with me I’ve been really enjoying our morning walks.

Need some help finishing up the front “stoop” (steps, porch, whatever) so a friend came over to give me an estimate for him to finish it. I can live with what he came up with so he’ll be starting tomorrow. Cool! Now I gotta hope rent gets paid.

The New Doctor Who.

Made overdone peanut butter cookies form my Schweetie today. Also made Pot Roast with mushrooms as a one-pot meal. It was pretty good and the meat wasn’t too tough.

Can you tell I’m just rambling now? That happens when you just live an ordinary every-day life in the US.

I could fill pages about my Renter right now; but I really think I ought not to.

Physically I’m going to shit. Mentally I’m the same as I’ve always been: Fucked Up. Sixty-six and I’m still trying to work it out.

Anytime The Headaches Want To Stop Is Ok With Me

Just not a lot going on around here. Foot and knee are still hurting. Get a headache every other day or so. It’s raining off and on. Getting colder and darker and, OH MY GOD, the Sun is going down! WTF?

Just kidding. Sorta. Really not a lot going on around here cause I’m still retired and just don’t get out much. Saturday date with SWMBO. BUT, I did get to go on a mid-week “date” with her last Wednesday. She had the day off to do Dental stuff and we spent the day together. Even made a COSTCO run.

Which really threw me off cause I kept thinking it was Saturday. I suppose if we had not eaten and gone shopping I wouldn’t have been confused! Getting Old.

My Renter is still driving me fookin’ nuts. I’m beginning to think she’s trying to get evicted. I know she’s having a hard time working and all (and Adulting), but if she’d come up and talk to me we could work something out. I’ve already agreed to lower the rent for two months while she looks for a roomie. But, without talking I have no idea what’s going on.

Meanwhile, rent is late every month and I usually have to remind her it’s due. I shouldn’t have to go to her for rent. She’s still behind for part of last month’s rent and electric and all I’ve heard is “I’m gonna do this …” but nothing’s done.

Not that it’s all bad. It’s just we don’t get along as well as we used to. And that kinda bums me out. (And NO Im not having those kind of fantasies!)

Anyway, that’s pretty much it for tonight. About 1930 I suddenly get really tired and my head will start to hurt. I hate Winter coming on!

I Am So Depressed.

Part of it is the immenent return of Winter. All that rain and cold and dark. Part of it is my Renter. Part of it is my Lovely-Young-Bride of almost 32 years. Part of it is I’m pretty tired of something hurting all the damned time. Part of it is that I spend WAY too much time alone. Part of it is that Im just fuckin’ Old.

Saw my new Doc last week. That was a waste of time. Could not get him off whatever his agenda was and on to what was bothering me. BAck in my day, if a patient had complained of foot or knee pain, we were taught to get them up on the exam table and actually DO an exam. Range of Motion, Does This Hurt? All that stuff.

Not this Doctor. Oh, sure, for the knee pain he said “probably degenerative osteo(someting). We could inject some steroids to see if that would help.” All this without an actual exam. He’s Good!

And, you’d think that when an OLD GUY says “I get chest pains in my upper left chest when I exert myself.” that the Doc would get one’s shirt off so he could listen to your heart and lungs. Nope. You’d be mistaken.

But he did order a echocardiogram and CT scan because I used to smoke.

Got My Tower Up! Mostly. Bunch of the guys came over the 22nd and spent about 3 hours getting it up. Rained the whole damn time! They did a fantastic job. Now I need to get the rotator ordered, antenna built and mounted and the last section up and I’ll be cooking with gas! I’ve tried climbing it. I can get about half way up before my knee hurts too much to go further, AND, even though my mind says I’m doing fine, my ASS says it ain’t going any farther. Stupid Ass!

NMARES meeting went really good tonight. Way more interesting than the South Club meetings.

Dang! Was so tired I forgot to post this last night.

Hurricane Florence Is Bearing Down!

Was going to post tonight, but, just dont feel like it. It’s 2030 and I’m tired. Haven’t been taking my meds cause they make me feel worse than the high blood pressure. I do take my one med that keeps my heart beating smoothly though. I like my heart beating smoothly.

Over the past few days I’ve been trying to get the “outside” stuff done before the Winter Wx sets in. Bought 10 more mason stone and put them in place. (Need about 15 more.) Weeded and graded the blue berry patch, put that weed blocker cloth down, and put 5 bags of bark in. That’s done. Looks pretty nice. Only a shitload more things to do that to!

My left knee is hurting so much lately that I seriously don’t know which leg to limp on anymore. My Doctor is going to shit his pants when I start listing the things I need to talk with him about! I need to cut the dosage of my bp meds cause what I’m taking make me feel shitty. Just getting OLD I guess.

Sprinkled some today so I gat out and burned trash. Got about half of it done.

My friend took the last of those ICF blocks and has a Gin Pole I can borrow so we’re planning to put up my tower the 22nd. That’ll be good. Won’t have an actual antenna to put on the top of it (for HF) but will have the tri-band VHF/UHF and two camera’s up. Ordered a climbing rig and got half of it in today. Cool!

I’m going to lay down. I’ll finish this tomorrow.

Ok, so it’s Wednesday now. Whoptie Doo. Still tired. Strange Dreams last night. Wx sucks. Suppose I should take the Dog for a walk.

So, two trips to the dump to, well, dump trash. Once for ours and once for the Renters. And, honestly, didn’t really get a lot more done today. Just felt tired.

Even waited too long to start dinner. Having two deep fried Egg, Bacon, Taters, and cheese sauce burrito’s since they were quick and easy. (Easy would have been to just mocrowave them.)

Renter has kicked out her present boyfriend and he’s had enough of her that he’s just leaving. Young People!

I don’t really have anything. Found out the other day that I had some Rx’s at the Naval Hospital Pharmacy that I needed to pick up. Timely since I had just run out of the main medication I use. (The one that slows my heart down and allows it to beat. I like that one!) So, made a trip to the pharmacy and got in and out in under an hour and a half. Not bad! Must have been a slow day for them. Plus I got there at 0800.

Not a lot going on around here. SSDD mostly. Wx is up and down. Mater’s still coming in (can’t ear them fast enough). Dog’s still doggin’. SWMBO ate that one gigantic freakin’ beet I grew for her. Didn’t hear her retching so I guess she liked it.

Friend came over and we messed with setting up a packet station in my shack. I’m going to have to get my own Winlink log in and go from there. May dedicate that tri-bander I have to the cause since I really don’t use it much. Matter of fact: I listen to my radio’s WAY more than I talk. Maybe I should just switch to Shortwave.

He also took a bunch of those styrofoam blocks used for making those cement houses that I’ve had laying around these past 11 years or so. (WHY can’t I remember what they’re called!?!?) ICF! That’s it. Insulated Concrete Forms. I hate Senior Moments.

So, I’ve been “doing things” around the house that I’ve been meaning to do. Working on the pantry today. Found 2 cases of home made chili that I did back in 2014. Put them on top of the chili I canned in 2016 so I’d eat them first. Had a jar for dinner and it was okay. Wouldn’t drive across town for it though. (My chili never seems to turn out the same when I make a new batch. One year it’ll be great. Next year it’ll be blah. Go figure!)

And that’s about it. Not feeling very well this evening. Trying to get a headache. Usually means the Wx is changing again. Sux!

I Can Sure Tell The Wx Changed

Since I was sitting here reading the screen and pretty much minding my own business, when, of a sudden, I’m looking through “heat wave” and can’t focus part of my eyes. Yep, Prodrome! On the bright side? If I do get a migrane headache, it’ll be the first in several months. But, still, Fuck.

Yesterday me and the Dog were naked and I had sweat dripping from my earlobes while loading that pile of junk that’s been sitting next to the garage (for 6 years or more!) into the truck to take it to the dump. Made a dump run yesterday with some of the stuff that was there. The dump run today was the rest of it. (All that old ugly flooring I’ve tried to give away for over 8 years now. Gone!)

So, today, the clouds moved in. Lots cooler. (LOTS! Like 20 degrees.) Kinda breezy. And it’s supposed to be that way for the next week! Sux!

So I’m puttering around the house. Thinking of baking some chicken for dinner. May add Brussels Sprouts and mashed taters.

Got the Wii Sports disc yesterday and have been doing the Bowling. Not bad. Doesn’t work to think you can use the same settings each time and get a strike. Seems to be fairly random with the way one uses the controller. Nice! My best game yesterday was 187. I’ll get better. Now if I can only talk my Renter into Nearly Naked Wii Bowling! (SWMBO would kick my ass!) For $20 that Wii hasn’t been a bad investment yet.

So, making chicken something with sugar, soy, cornstarch, pineapple, onion, and butter. Smells good. Figured SWMBO would like it for the pineapple if nothing else. (She doesn’t eat reheated meat. Mostly.)

Wx got sunny and warm so me and the Dog have been for several walks.

Swept the garage. Hooked the battery in the RV to a solar panel and charge controller so I could unplug and put away the long extension cord I had running out to it. Heck, all it was doing was keeping the battery charged, so, why not let the sun do that as much as possible? We’ll see …

Well, the NMARES meeting went well. Lots of discussions and plans. Cool!

Another Sunday Coming Through!

SWMBO and I sat in our new chairs and watched Avengers: Infinity War on the 65” with the sound bar blaring and it was pretty nice. Enjoyed the movie but hated the ending. Cause it didn’t end. So, two years or more until the NEXT non-end?

Not a whole heck of a lot going on around here. Been warm (warm!) this past week so the dog and I spent a lot of time outside walking our trails. Nice. Getting kind of boring but still nice. I do like our property. Just wish there was about 20+ more acres of it. That would be nice!

Garden is almost done. I checked and the beets aren’t actually growing beets; just lots of leaves. Really green leaves with red lines in them; but, no beets. Peas are all in and the dead vines pulled out. Mater’s are coming in great though. LOTS of cherry tomato’s. SWMBO needs to take some of these to work and give them away.

Decided to let SWMBO go visit her parents by herself and I’ve gotta cancel the trip to Texas for Thanksgiving. I was under a LOT of stress to get that new Cargo Trailer and get it set up for camping and get on the road by the beginning of November. Got to causing anxiety and I don’t want anxiety in my life. So we changed things around. Wish I could go with SWMBO but it just ain’t gonna work out this year.

Other than that: nada. I will be renting a lift or crane by mid-Sept to get my tower off the ground and up. Need to go to Harbor Freight and get a wench and a long rope. Why climb when I can winch myself up!

Been Back From My LA Trip A Week

Or so. Been so busy ‘catching up” around the house that I haven’t taken the time to update. I know you missed me!

My Step-Mom’s funeral went well; I thought. I wasn’t the only white guy there but I did feel like the gray-headed step-child I was. Oh, everyone was friendly; but a little stand-off-ish. Sorta. Which I understood since most of them had never seen me nor had they heard about me. They even asked me to talk! (Forgot half of what I was gonna say though.)

Took off from Chino and drove the coast to San Diego. Something I hadn’t done in over 20 years. Was nice. Stopped and visited with my brother-in-law in Santee, Ca. It was hot and we sat outside at COSTCO and watched the girls. God.

So, Day 1 was Home to Redding (where the horizon was on fire!). Day 2 Redding to Bakersfield. Day 3 (Saturday) was Bakersfield to Chino and the Funeral. (Got the LAST empty motel room in the area. $100!) Day 4 was Chino to LA to San Diego to Santee to March AFB up by Riverside. (Nice room and the quietest night of them all.) Day 5 was March AFB to Beaver, Utah. Day 6 was Beaver to SLC to Boise to Ontario, (Or?) Day 7 was Ontario to Home. 3100+ Miles! Phew!

All by myself too. Which sucked. Big Time. Trips are Way Much Better with SWMBO along. Especially while staying in strange motel rooms!

Not a whole heck of a lot going on around here since I got back. Tending the garden and picking things that are ripe. Peas are just about finished up. Green beans are done for the year and in the freezer. Maters are just really starting to come in and already we’re having problems getting rid of them. (Next year NO cherry tomato’s unless SWMBO really wants them. But will do slicing maters.)

Hot these past couple of days. Like in excess of 95 degrees. Nice!

Warranty finally expired on my laptop so I loaded it with Linux Mint 19 Xfce and set it up for SWMBO to use. Transferred all her shit from her laptop to the “new” one and it’s in her room ready to be used. I like it; but the truth is that if SHE doesn’t like it, well, the old laptop is still available. And will be for at least the next week “just in case!”

Got my DNA results from Ancestry. I’m about as plain vanilla White Boy as you can get. Which has got to be disappointing for SWMBO. She was hoping something would show up that’d make it easier to track my family. Doesn’t look like it did.

WhooEeeeee Hot today. Nice. Nice nice. Picked a hatful of blackberry’s and was sweating like a, well, pig? (Do pigs sweat?) So I’m taking a break before heading out for some more.
