Because this shit doesn't happen during the week.
Made my weekly trip to the MILA (FILA now) to check things out and found flooding. The whole bathroom and into the small hall flooding. Appeared to be backing up through the walk-in-shower drain flooding.
On my way back upstairs to get the mop and bucket I found that the flooding had spread into the basement bathroom and partially into the rest of the basement. Wonderful.
Spent the next couple of hours going back and forth mopping up water. Got it all except for what keeps leaking out from under cabinets. One of the floor tiles next to the FILA bathroom is coming up. No idea other than replacement on how to fix that one.
So, during all that I'm looking up Plumbers on-line. Local Plumbers. Wound up leaving a plea for help on Yelp. The only folks that answered was Roto-Rooter. They offered to waive the $99 we'll-check-it-out fee and would be here this afternoon. Cool!
So this (young) guy, Dominic, shows up, figures out the problem, fixes it AND cleans the septic filter, asks me for $600, and departs. He was here less than an hour. Really cool.
Found out during all that that the 3 guys that usually work Kitsap County (local) are off Thurs-Sun so Dominic drove over from Tacoma. And he was still in a good mood.
Amazing.
I think I lucked out and discovered the flooding within a very short time of it happening. Did a load of laundry earlier and I think that is when it started. Not sure and no way of knowing; but it didn't seem/smell like a multi-day flood. Really not stinky enough. Not enough sewage involved.
So, phew.
Might be time to institute a daily walk-thru routine though. Well, I'd get some exercise going down and back up the stairs...
